The University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences has a long-standing history of providing outstanding care for our patients, conducting leading-edge, collaborative research, and educating the next generation of ophthalmologists and vision science researchers. 

 

The department is seeking faculty for a full time position in the subspecialty of Neuro Ophthalmology. Appointment rank may be at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level and to either the tenure track or clinical (non-tenure) track consistent with clinical experience and research interest and commensurate with experience. The position entails clinical activity at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics main campus and the Iowa City VA Medical Center.

 

The department currently supports 18 residents and 6 first year interns in the Ophthalmology training program, as well as fellowships in Pediatric Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, Neuro Ophthalmology, Cornea, Oculoplastics and Retina. The department has multiple providers conducting clinical research strongly supported by a trials team and institutional resources. In addition to the trials team, the University of Iowa Institute for Vision Research is home to a world class team of scientist aimed at curing blindness.

 

Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.
