Post Doctoral Scientist -- Vision Research

University of Rochester School of Medicine
Flaum Eye Institute

The Telias Lab (www.teliaslab.com) at the Flaum Eye Institute, University of Rochester Medical Center, is looking to recruit one or more postdoctoral researchers. The lab works with mouse models of vision loss and blindness; and stem cell models for in-vitro disease-oriented biomedical research.

Our lab is interested in unraveling molecular and physiological mechanisms that impair plasticity in neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative diseases, with an emphasis on targetable pathways that can lead to therapeutics. To achieve this, we employ a wide range of methods and techniques.

Successful candidates should be skillful in one or many of the following methodologies/research fields:

• Electrophysiology – including intra/extracellular recordings with single or multiple electrodes in-vitro, in slice, in-vivo. Patch-clamp, multielectrode arrays, electroretinograms and brain recordings (Neuropixels) are preferred.
• Imaging – with an emphasis on single or multiphoton imaging and image-analysis.
• Mouse behavior – learning & memory, image-recognition, natural behavior, innate responses, operant-conditioning paradigms.
• Computer & Data Science – coding in MatLab, C++/C#, Python, R; advanced processing and feature extraction from large datasets (e-phys recordings, transcriptomics, images).
• Molecular & Cell Biology – cell culture, neuronal differentiation, FACS, WB, qPCR, IHC, Cloning.
