The West Virginia University Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology, announces an outstanding opportunity for a fellowship-trained Retina specialist (ranks available: Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV. Successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at other worksites, including but not necessarily limited to, West Virginia University Hospitals, Inc., West Virginia University Medical Corporation doing business as “University Health Associates,” [etc.] located in West Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, Virginia, and Pennsylvania and, as such, travel is anticipated and expected to fulfill said duties at these other worksites.

Duties: the adequate candidate will be comfortable diagnosing, treating and managing a high volume of medical and surgical retinal conditions with a high surgical volume expected from the onset. Additional responsibilities include mentoring and teaching retina fellows, ophthalmology residents and medical students alike.

Qualifications: Applicants must have MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain West Virginia medical license. Candidates must be board certified/eligible in Ophthalmology. Candidates must have completed a two-year vitreoretinal fellowship. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with an outstanding research team, multiple ongoing retinal clinical trials, four research clinical coordinators, multiple well-funded basic science researchers with sole focus on retinal diseases and 6 RO1 grants.
