Comprehensive Ophthalmologist - Astoria, OR

The Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Casey Eye Institute is recruiting a full-time Comprehensive Ophthalmologist for its affiliated clinic located in Astoria, Oregon. 

Astoria is an idyllic coastal community located less than two hours from Portland.  This community along with neighboring Long Beach, Washington has been growing continuously in recent years and supports independent coffee roasters, award-winning microbreweries, restaurants and specialty stores. Historically, known as the end of the historic Lewis and Clark Expedition, Astoria is home to a large fishing industry, with wonderful deep sea fishing. A number of movies have been filmed in Astoria including The Goonies, The Black Stallion, Free Willy, and Short Circuit.  Outdoor activities are numerous such as beach-combing, clam digging, fly-fishing in coastal rivers and hiking in the pristine coastal forests. Astoria is a port city that is a destination for leisure cruise ships and supports a major Pacific area US Coast Guard Command Center.

OHSU is a leading health and research university that strives for excellence in patient care, education, research and community service. This position will be part of the OHSU Casey Eye Institute, which is a highly-regarded department including 56 ophthalmoloigsts, 7 optometrists, and numerous basic science faculty. Other subspecialty services include cornea, retina, glaucoma, oculoplastics, pediatric ophthalmology, ophthalmic pathology, oncology, uveitis and ocular immunology, low vision, and ophthalmic genetics. Our training programs include strong residency education with 15 residents, and 9 clinical fellows.

This position will have a strong clinical emphasis with an established referral base and active surgical load, and will also hold an academic OHSU appointment. The ideal candidate must be board certified or board eligible. Oregon and Washington state medical licensures are required. A competitive benefit package will be offered.
