Tulane University Medical School is seeking an exceptional leader to chair the Department of Ophthalmology in New Orleans, Louisiana and hold the Olga Oliver Dabezies Professorship in Ophthalmology.

Applicants must have a vision for the future of a growing department, high expectations for patient-centered care, and an established track record in academics.  We seek an individual with strong leadership and interpersonal skills in addition to experience in administration/management in order to drive the departmental missions of teaching, service, and research.

The Department of Ophthalmology consists of 12 full and part time faculty members in the areas of cornea, glaucoma, pediatrics, retina, as well as comprehensive ophthalmology.  The department has a well-established, three-year accredited residency training program with five residents in each year (potential for expansion). There are also three fellowship programs, Corneal/External Diseases, Glaucoma, and Retina.

Based in New Orleans, the department has programs / clinical sites in other areas of the state.  The faculty and residents also serve the Veterans Administration Medical Center and University Medical Center, New Orleans, as well as Tulane University Hospital and Clinics.  https://medicine.tulane.edu/departments/ophthalmology

The Department of Ophthalmology is in a trajectory of expansion and growth.  The new chairman will be intimately involved in that growth.
