McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), a leading academic health center, invites applications for full-time research Assistant Professor position in the Ruiz Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science

We seek candidates with an active research program focused on the retina and/or Visual Neuroscience to join a collaborative research group supported by an NEI Vision Core Grant in the Ruiz Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science.  Translational approaches within the broad field of Vision are welcome.  Candidates should have external support or the strong potential to obtain external support, typically an NIH grant, preferably from the National Eye Institute.

Position Key Accountabilities:

Teaching duties, graduate training and participation in departmental activities as assigned. This position will be 80% reseaarch time and 20% clinical time split between Lyndon B Johnson General Hospital (LBJ) and at Cizik Eye Clinic.  These provide for a busy subspecialty clinic and surgical schedule consisting of complex retina subspecialty care. 

Qualifications 

Qualifications include an MD with research training and/or a PhD in a closely related subject with post-doctoral experience, supported by demonstrated research productivity and a strong publication record.  Teaching duties, graduate training and participation in departmental activities as assigned.  Applications should include a current CV, a research statement, grant outline and future plans, in addition to the names of three references.
