The American Academy of Ophthalmology is honoring ophthalmologist medical student educators with its Distinguished Service Award at the 2018 Annual Meeting in Chicago. The award is one of the Academy’s highest honors and is presented for ongoing notable service to ophthalmology and the Academy. Dr. David W. Parke, II, Chief Executive Officer at the Academy, stated in his letter that this group has been selected “for their work in educating future non-ophthalmologists in the core knowledge and skills necessary to evaluate the visual system and to manage and/or refer patients in need of care as well as for their efforts in inspiring and attracting highly qualified medical students to the field of ophthalmology.” Congratulations! This recognition is well deserved. Thank you for all that you do on behalf of ophthalmology.
