Residency/Fellowship Coordinator

  • Working under the direction of GME, the Program Director and the Department Administrator, the Senior Coordinator manages the daily operation and administration of the Residency/Fellowship/Medical Student Programs. The Senior Coordinator must provide an atmosphere of professionalism, a positive attitude, and maintain high morale amoung current residents, fellows and students.

  • Monitors adherence and fulfillment of all compliance requirements set forth by ACGME, KU GME, and additional governing bodies in order to ensure continued accreditation of the Residency/Fellowship/Medical Student Programs.

    Provides consultation and guidance to the Assistant Residency Program Directors, Medical Student Coordinators, and Fellowship Coordinators as it pertains to current and future accredited and non-accredited fellowships programs.

    Coordinates the residency program recruitment process. To include answering applicant's request for information about the Residency Program, interview season logistics, application review and preparation of documents during the MATCH process.

    Assist in the onboarding and orientation process of new residents/fellows/medical students.

    Monitoring and maintaining licensure documents to assure all residents are fully licensed through the Residency. Monitor and coordinate resident certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS) as required by KU GME and the department.

    Create and maintain evaluations for residents and staff as required by ACGME, KU GME and the department.

    Assist graduating residents with off boarding requirements, credentialing and information regarding permanent licensure and Board certification.

    Assist with the preparation of documents for residents rotating outside of KUMC.

    Annual budget and associated accounts payable for all Ophthalmology residency and fellowship programs.

    Reporting and the ongoing maintenance of information in multiple software programs.

    Assist in other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the Program Director or other Department leadership.

    ** Required Qualifications **

    Bachelor's degree in business or related field. Professional experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, such as Work, Excel and Outlook. Ability to make sound decisions and to logically compile and analyze data. Ability to understand, comply with, and interpret policies and procedures. Exceptional communication, organizational, computer and data management skills. Ability to work with various organizational levels both inside and outside of the department.
