The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at Yale School of Medicine is expanding the clinical practice and seeks outstanding Pediatric trained Ophthalmologists for an available position as an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, with rank based on experience. The department is rapidly growing its clinical footprint and seeking a candidate to join our team.

The Department has a long-standing tradition of excellence in clinical care and research in multiple subspecialty areas of ophthalmology. Our faculty provide clinical services for patients with over 75,000 visits annually at Yale Medicine Ophthalmology, the Smilow Cancer Hospital, the Dana Clinic at Yale New Haven Hospital, and the West Haven Veterans Affairs Hospital. We have a strong and competitive residency program, which consists of 15 residents, and fellowship programs.  The Department is located within the Yale University School of Medicine, which is one of the nation’s oldest and most competitive medical schools, consistently ranking in the top few in federal research funding. Clinical services are delivered through Yale Medicine, which is the largest multispecialty physician practice in New England, containing 1400 providers.

The Department is affiliated with the Yale New Haven Health System, a growing health care system including Yale-New Haven Hospital, Saint Raphael’s Hospital, Bridgeport Hospital, Greenwich Hospital, and Lawrence and Memorial Hospital. We have outpatient offices in New Haven, Guilford, Norwalk, Greenwich, Waterford, Madison, and Stratford. TOur department is growing, with plans to double its clinical and academic footprint over five years, adding multiple new clinical and research faculty members to coincide with this geographic expansion.

This is an outstanding opportunity for candidates who are interested in building a solid career in academic medicine in a superb setting for clinical practice, education, and research. The ideal candidates will be devoted to clinical excellence and have a firm commitment to the education of residents and medical students. Candidates should have an MD degree and be board certified or board eligible in ophthalmology and be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Connecticut.
