Position description

The Viterbi Family Department of Ophthalmology at UC San Diego (https://medschool.ucsd.edu/som/ophthalmology/pages/default.aspx) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body.

The Viterbi Family Department of Ophthalmology and Shiley Eye Institute are expanding. We seek candidates who are interested in clinical, translational and research positions; teaching of students, residents, and fellows.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate of Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.

As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application):

  • Candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD or PhD in ophthalmology and/or health related fields.
  • Candidates with an MD must be board eligible or board certified in Ophthalmology. Candidates with an MD must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/ permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
