Ophthalmic Hospitalist (full-time)

UC Davis Health
UC Davis Eye Center (Department of Ophthalmology & Vision Science)

The University of California Davis Eye Center, Department of Ophthalmology & Vision Science, is accepting applications for a hospital-based ophthalmologist at the assistant or associate professor level. This position is designed for an individual interested in working closely with residents in providing hospital-based ophthalmic care and consultation in our 625 bed tertiary academic hospital and Level 1 trauma center. The UC Davis Medical Center serves a highly diverse catchment area and cares for a wide breadth of ophthalmic pathology. Responsibilities will include staffing ophthalmic consults with residents and developing a clinical curriculum in hospital-based ophthalmology. Opportunities for interdisciplinary curriculum development for trainees in emergency medicine and related fields will be available to interested candidates. The hospitalist will be supported by our department’s ophthalmic subspecialists for both medical and surgical management when needed. We anticipate that the rotation with our hospitalist will be a highly valuable and  foundational clinical experience for our residents, and this individual will have the opportunity to serve on program leadership committees regarding resident assessment and curriculum development.

Opportunities for participating in surgery (e.g. rupture globe repairs) will be available. Candidates must have an MD or DO degree, be board certified or eligible, and possess or be eligible for licensure in California.
