Glaucoma Fellowship-trained Ophthalmologist
The Dell Medical School of The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a glaucoma fellowship-trained ophthalmologist to join the Department of Ophthalmology and the Mitchel and Shannon Wong Eye Institute (MSWEI) at the Dell Medical School. Qualified candidates will be considered at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor.

The Dell Medical School is focused on the development of new models for healthcare delivery, promotion of health, and clinical care for the community’s underserved population.
The inaugural Department of Ophthalmology and the MSWEI seek to recruit dynamic, academically oriented, mission-aligned faculty to help form the DNA of the new department. This is a 70% - 100% FTE position.
How to Apply
Essential Functions:
- Serve as a clinical ophthalmologist to deliver evidence-based care with an interest in redesign initiatives at 70% FTE effort.
- Coordinate the design and implementation of the Glaucoma Program at the Dell Medical School and other future sites of service.
- Assist in the training of residents and students in the clinical and surgical management of the eye conditions and diseases of the eye.
- Participate in strategic planning and other efforts directly tied to the development and growth of the MSWEI.
- Interest in developing outcomes metrics to measure patient-centric outcomes.
- Develop partnerships with referring physicians, hospitals, and ancillary providers in Austin and Central Texas.
- Participate in the development and implementation of Graduate Medical Education curricula.
- Develop and foster an atmosphere of scientific and academic inquiry in conjunction with trainees and researchers at Dell Med and UT Austin.

The new department also seeks individuals to serve in the following endowed roles:
- Associate Chair of Education (Residency Program Director)
- Associate Chair of Research
- Associate Chair of Clinical Operations (Medical Director)
Required qualifications:
- Medical degree from an accredited medical school
- Current Board certification/eligibility in Ophthalmology
- Fellowship training in Glaucoma
- Eligible for medical licensure in Texas
- An interest in clinical research is desirable and could be supported with start-up funds
Preferred qualifications:
- Record of leadership and achievement.
