Neuro-Ophthalmology – Assistant/Associate Professor

The Dean McGee Eye Institute (DMEI)/University of Oklahoma (OU) is seeking a talented ophthalmologist with fellowship training in Neuro-Ophthalmology and an interest in pursuing a career with robust volumes, excellent clinical and basic research opportunities, faculty participation in outstanding residency and fellowship programs, and state-of-the-art facilities, including a DMEI-owned ambulatory surgery center. 

The Institute provides more than 200,000 total patient visits annually, completed a $47 million, 78,000-square-foot building expansion in 2011, and increased the number of clinical lanes by another 25% in August 2018. The Department houses many National Institutes of Health-funded investigators greatly interested in collaboration and translational research. An outstanding Clinical Trials Unit also is available. Many of the faculty serve in national leadership positions. Salary support is highly competitive.

Oklahoma City, with a population of approximately 650,000 and a metropolitan area of 1.4 million, is experiencing a major downtown renaissance and enjoys a low cost of living and unemployment rate, lots of sunshine, and numerous cultural and recreational opportunities (including NBA Thunder basketball).

Candidates must have completed an ophthalmology residency and a neuro-ophthalmology fellowship, be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Oklahoma, and be certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology. An interest in engaging in comprehensive ophthalmologic care, including cataract surgery, also is welcome.
