Chair - Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences

The UTMB Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences seeks a Chair with vision and the ability to lead, develop and grow this outstanding department. The Chair is responsible for the quality of educational, scientific, and clinical programs, as well as the overall leadership and management of this highly diverse and respected department. This oversight includes the appropriate and optimal use of human, financial, space and other resources to successfully manage the clinical, educational and research missions of the department. Minimal requirements include; MD and/or PhD degree, Progressively responsible leadership experience, demonstrated familiarity with academic administration in a specialty field, demonstrative comprehensive understanding of a medical school/hospital environment, board certification in a specialty field and the ability to obtain a Texas state medical board license.
