Comprehensive Ophthalmologist

The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville, seeks a full-time faculty member at the non-tenure accruing level of Clinical Assistant Professor. Major responsibilities include providing teaching, patient care and research contributing to a diverse academic eye practice.

The department offers a wide array of eye care services to the Jacksonville community. Our specialties include cornea and external disease, glaucoma, diseases of the retina, uveitis, ocular tumors, oculoplastic and orbital surgery, neuro-ophthalmology, contact lenses, low vision and electrophysiology.

This position will report to the Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville.

Following is a general description of duties and responsibilities:

• Provide general clinical evaluation/treatment and surgical intervention for eye structures damaged by disease and accident.
• Work with current faculty. May provide training for medical residents and students.
• Create, enhance and maintain a prompt, patient friendly, cost effective clinical service.
• Be responsible for excellent communication with primary care physicians.
• Provide after hours and emergency on-call coverage.
• Perform research responsibilities as assigned.
• Participate in division meetings, administrative functions and institutional committees as requested.

The University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville is the largest of the three UF colleges - medicine, nursing and pharmacy - located on the approximately 110-acre UF Health Jacksonville campus. The college's 15 clinical science departments house more than 400 faculty members and 300 residents and fellows. The college offers 32 accredited graduate medical education programs. In addition to graduate medical education, clinical rotations in all the major disciplines are provided for students from the UF College of Medicine in Gainesville.
