Cornea Clinician
Michigan Medicine’s Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking outstanding physician-scientist candidates with fellowship training in cornea and a clinical or basic science research interest. Successful candidates will be expected to establish a clinical practice and an independent research program in visual sciences with a primary appointment in the Department of Ophthalmology and a joint appointment in an appropriate basic science department (if applicable). Opportunities for partnering with other disciplines exist and the ideal candidate will be interested in innovative program development that addresses the clinical and research needs of our patients.
The candidate will be expected to participate in research and graduate education as well as in departmental efforts in education in ophthalmology and visual sciences. Additional teaching duties may be associated with a joint appointment in a basic science department. The University of Michigan Medical School provides an outstanding academic environment for all areas of biomedical sciences and has for many years been a leading center for research in ophthalmology and visual sciences. Vision research at the University of Michigan is supported by a Vision Core grant supporting outstanding facilities and an NEI-funded training grant for graduate students and fellows in eye research.
Located in culturally-rich southeastern Michigan, the department has over 100 clinical and research faculty and more than 500 employees in 10 different locations surrounding the beautiful, vibrant, and diverse community of Ann Arbor. The position is for the clinical track with possible instructional tenure track as indicated by qualifications and is full-time.
