Glaucoma Specialist - Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking an academically-oriented Glaucoma Specialist to join our department. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience. The University Hospitals Eye Institute and the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at University Hospitals / Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) brings together world-renowned physicians and leading research scientists to prevent, treat, and cure the most prevalent and devastating diseases of the eye- all while training the next generation of ophthalmologists.
The department supports a 6-resident per year Ophthalmology residency training program, as well as fellowships in Glaucoma, Retina, and Pediatric Ophthalmology. Our organization is well equipped to utilize all MIGS and traditional devices with the full range of diagnostic modalities. A robust and active clinical trials team (Vision Research Coordinating Center) supports investigator-initiated trials as well as NIH and corporate sponsored studies. The Visual Science Research Center, led by the Department, of CWRU School of Medicine is a top funded basic science research group supported by P-30 core and T-32 training grants. Clinical research opportunities are available working with our nationally recognized Vision Research Coordinating Center. In glaucoma, there are multiple ongoing clinical trials in medical and surgical treatments and two active basic science laboratories.
The successful candidate must maintain high clinical and ethical standards that will be carried into the decision-making processes, adhere to compliance measures, foster a high level of patient satisfaction, and promote an atmosphere of unity through collaborative practice and effective communication. Excellent diagnostic and surgical skills are required. We are looking for someone with a strong interest in teaching. The candidate must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Ophthalmology. The candidate must also possess/maintain a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Ohio.
