Glaucoma Specialist-Ophthalmologist

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS) is seeking candidates for a Glaucoma Ophthalmology position. This position will see patients at Madison UW Health Clinics and will provide clinical teaching for learners in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Additionally, this position may include patient care duties at UW Regional Services Clinics. Clinical research and/or academic service is also expected. The candidate has the option of combining glaucoma clinical care with comprehensive ophthalmology or other sub-specialty eye care. 

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law, and then every four years.

Key Job Responsibilities:

-    Provide high-quality patient care at UW Health Madison and potentially Regional Services Clinics in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, including medical and surgical care.
-    Participate in resident/medical student/fellowship education in the clinic and in the operating room.
-    Develop a program of scholarly activity in one or more of the following: clinical and/or translation research; education/teaching; institutional leadership.
-    Perform administrative duties as appropriate.
-    Participate in professional, public, and university service as appropriate.

The successful candidate will teach medical students, residents, and fellows. 


The successful candidate will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Required Qualifications:

- WI Medical license, or eligible for WI Medical license by start of position.

- Completion of a US Ophthalmology Accredited Residency Program and Fellowship by the start of the position.

- Board eligible or board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology by the start of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Experience in conducting research, clinical care, and teaching.

-For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on the CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track.

Education:

MD or DO, or equivalent required.
