The Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO) and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) hosted a 90-minute webinar, Advice for the 2025-2026 Ophthalmology Residency Match Season, on Monday, June 2, 2025.
The panelists, dedicated educators who represent the AUPO, AAO, and the SF Match, shared viewpoints on applying for this year’s ophthalmology residency match. The latest changes to the match process were outlined. The perspectives of department chairs, deans' offices, directors of medical student education, and residency program directors were included. Presenters representing different regions across the U.S. offered tips related to assessing your application, personal statements, research & extracurriculars, evaluating where to apply, interviewing, assessing residency program fit, preference signaling, and new features of the match.
