The Department is seeking an experienced and dynamic candidate. The successful candidate will lead a unified division in clinical care at multiple sites, rese arch and educational programs. Candidates must have a MD or MD/PhD.

Candidates with an MD must be board eligible or board certified in Ophthalmology. Candidates with an MD must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/ permit as determine d by the Medical Board of California.

Candidates with experience and training in patient medical and surgical cornea and external disease; laser, diagnostic imaging & minor procedures; providing high quality medical students, resident and fellow training; and participation in clinical and/or basic research. 

The appropriate appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales.  Appointment may require candidates to be self-funded.

The search chair will review applications to assess if candidates meet the minimum qualifications. The Search Committee will conduct phone interviews or in-person interviews. Finalists will meet with key faculty and staff. The Search Committee will review qualifications based on the interview and review of publications. The Search Committee will meet to discuss the final candidate or candidates and submit a proposed candidate or candidates to the Department Chair and Faculty.
