The University Hospitals Eye Institute and the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at University Hospitals/ Case Western Reserve University brings together world-renowned physicians and leading research scientists to prevent, treat, and cure the most prevalent and devastating diseases of the eye- all while training the next generation of ophthalmology experts.

The UH Eye Institute and the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking an academically-oriented Anterior Segment (Corneal) Surgeon to grow our Center for Anterior Segment Disease and Surgery. Appointment at the level of Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or full Professor is available commensurate with experience.

The position entails clinical activity at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and at 2 satellite clinics. Excellent anterior segment diagnostic and surgical skills are required.

The department supports an 18 resident Ophthalmology training program, as well as fellowships in Pediatric Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, and Retina.   Clinical research opportunities are available working with our nationally recognized Vision Research Coordinating Center staff (currently directing the NEI-funded Diabetes Endothelial Keratoplasty Study) and our internationally recognized Cornea Image Analysis Reading Center.

The successful candidate must maintain high clinical and ethical standards that will be carried into decision-making processes, adhere to compliance measures, establish and promote an atmosphere of unity through collaborative practice and effective communication between all staff disciplines, and foster a high level of patient and staff satisfaction.

The candidate must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Ophthalmology, with subspecialty training in anterior segment and corneal surgery. Candidate must also possess/maintain a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Ohio.
