Pediatric or Retina Specialist

The Ruiz Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science (OVS) at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) is recruiting a fellowship trained pediatric ophthalmologist or retina specialist with additional interest in screening and treatment of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). The physician will split clinical time between the Robert Cizik Eye Clinic and Lyndon B Johnson General Hospital (LBJ) and will share in the duties of screening for ROP in a large level IV NICU as well as a smaller level III NICU. The physician will be able to create a busy subspecialty clinic and surgical practice. This position will include the supervision of residents and medical students in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Faculty will share call responsibilities including staffing consults with residents at Memorial Hermann Hospital and LBJ Hospital.

Desirable candidates are expected to have a strong interest in clinical care and teaching in an academic setting.   Clinical research is encouraged and supported.

Applicants should have completed training at an accredited medical school and fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology or Medical and/or Surgical Retina. They must be board certified or board eligible in Ophthalmology and be eligible for a medical license in the state of Texas.

Clinical appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full professor level will be commensurate with experience.
