The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston/McGovern Medical School invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Glaucoma at the assistant or associate professor level. Through the UT Houston/McGovern Medical school, the Ruiz Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science has a Clinical Educator Faculty track that emphasizes excellent clinical care with a large interest in resident education. The clinical educator track is unique in that there is less emphasis on research as a requirement for promotion.
This position will be 90% clinical time split between Lyndon B Johnson General Hospital (LBJ) and at Cizik Eye Clinic with the majority of time at LBJ. These provide for a busy subspecialty clinic and surgical schedule consisting of complex cataracts and glaucoma subspecialty care. The position at LBJ is a mixture of staffing resident clinics and surgeries. Applicants should have completed fellowship training or equivalent in glaucoma, be board certified/eligible in ophthalmology, and be eligible for a medical license in the state of Texas.
