West Virginia University School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology seeks a BC/BE Neuro Ophthalmologist qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.

Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the areas of Neuro Ophthalmology.  In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows.  For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, it is expected that candidates sustain an outstanding, extramurally supported research program.

Qualifications: Applicants must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license.  Candidates must be board certified / eligible in Ophthalmology. Candidates must have completed an accredited ophthalmology or neurology residency program and neuro-ophthalmology fellowship. Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with credentials. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Responsibilities will include providing excellent patient care as well as teaching medical students and ophthalmology residents and fellows.  Opportunities exist to participate in clinical and translational research.

At the WVU Eye Institute you will treat a diverse population of pediatric and adult strabismus patients and have exposure to clinically challenging cases. Our state-of-the art facility houses all subspecialties of ophthalmology as well as an active research program. This University-based practice is rapidly expanding with a vast patient population offering the opportunity to be busy quickly. Faculty appointment commensurate with qualifications and a very competitive compensation and benefit package is available.

The West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, led by Dr. Ali Rezai, is expanding to include the clinical, research, and academic missions of Neurosurgery, Neurology, and Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry, among others. The Institute will spearhead efforts to develop innovative solutions for West Virginians and those across the world with neurological and psychiatric conditions ranging from Alzheimer’s to Parkinson’s; autism to stroke; and paralysis to chronic pain, addictions, and traumatic brain injury.
