Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor to serve as Director of Optometry. This person will provide optometric care at the department's clinical sites, direct the department's optometric service, including supervision of other department optometrists and education of optometric trainees, and undertake scholarly activity. We especially welcome applicants who have completed an optometric residency, have experience as a practicing optometrist, and who can begin employment on or before September 1, 2019.  Compensation will be dependent upon qualifications and includes a generous package of fringe benefits.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified individuals must: 1) hold a doctor of optometry degree or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for optometric licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be certified to practice optometry by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO), and 4) have prior experience providing eye care in a hospital or academic setting.
