Job Requirements

This is an open-rank, full-time position on the Clinical Health Sciences (CHS). Completion of 3-4 years Ophthalmology residency and a fellowship with focus on medical retina, surgical retina, or uveitis is required. Candidate must be American Board of Ophthalmology certified or board eligible (up to 5 years from graduation from residency to achieve certification) is required.

Qualified candidates will be considered at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor. In addition to the above-mentioned clinical and teaching activities, CHS track responsibilities will also include developing a clinical and/or laboratory research program. The clinical or basic science research will be supported with start-up funds.  Candidates for the Associate Professor or Professor rank must meet criteria for appointment at rank per the UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the CHS track. The successful candidate will participate in Departmental, School of Medicine and Public Health, and University of Wisconsin committees as assigned. Perform professional, University of Wisconsin, UW Health and community service appropriate to the faculty rank.

Medical Retina PVL 94501

Develop and carry out patient care programs in the diagnosis and treatment of retinal eye diseases with emphasis on medical retina. Provide primary patient care at the UW Health Hospital and Clinics and clinical outreach sites. May see patients at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital and UnityPoint Health Meriter Hospital. Participate in fellow, resident, and medical student clinical education in clinic. Develop clinical and/or laboratory research programs. Participate in clinical trials in retinal diseases.

Medical/Surgical Retina PVL 94498

Focus on surgical retina. Develop and carry out patient care programs in the diagnosis and treatment of retinal eye diseases with emphasis on surgical retina. Provide primary patient care at the UW Health Hospital and Clinics and clinical outreach sites. May see patients at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital, and UnityPoint Health Meriter Hospital. Participate in fellow, resident, and medical student clinical education in clinic and operating rooms. Develop clinical and/or laboratory research programs. Participate in clinical trials for retinal diseases.
