The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Wisconsin, School of Medicine and Public Health, is actively recruiting a American Board of Ophthalmology certified or eligible Comprehensive ophthalmologist to join our academic practice.

Job Requirements

This is a full-time position on the Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) track. Position responsibilities include clinical and surgical care for patients at UW Hospital and Clinics, in UW Outreach Clinics, and at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital. Other duties include serving as co-director of the UW Hospital Security Clinic and teaching of residents, fellows and medical students. CHS track faculty also participate in clinical research and department service.

Qualified candidates at the rank of Assistant Professor (CHS), Associate Professor (CHS) or Professor (CHS) will be considered. Candidates must have an MD degree and be ABO certified or eligible. Candidates for Associate Professor (CHS) or Full Professor (CHS) must meet criteria established by UW School of Medicine and Public Health for appointment and promotion on the CHS track.

Ophthalmologists from the University of Wisconsin have been caring for patients and studying eye diseases since 1925. Our staff includes doctors who provide routine and preventive eye care, as well as specialists who are national leaders in treating glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, eye tumors, macular degeneration and other eye diseases. In addition to developing sight-saving tests and treatments, department members are also studying the way the eye changes with age, improving corneal transplantation and providing advanced training for ophthalmologists throughout the world.
