Glaucoma

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking an academically oriented glaucoma ophthalmologist to join five glaucoma ophthalmologists. This is an open-rank, full-time position on the Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) or Clinical Teaching (CT) track. This position entails clinical activity at the UW Hospital and Clinics, in UW Outreach Clinics, and at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital. The hired ophthalmologist will teach and mentor residents, fellows and medical students.

Candidates must have an MD degree and be board-certified (or board-eligible if within five years of residency completion) in ophthalmology. Completion of a clinical fellowship in glaucoma is required. Base salary compensation is through the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Additional compensation is from the University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation, the clinical arm of the University of Wisconsin Health system. 

The anticipated start date is July 1, 2017. 

Clinical Health Sciences Track:
Qualified candidates will be considered at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor. In addition to the above-mentioned clinical and teaching activities, CHS track responsibilities will also include developing a clinical and/or laboratory research program. The clinical or basic science research will be supported with start-up funds. Candidates for the Associate Professor or Professor rank must meet criteria for appointment at rank per the UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the CHS track. 

Clinical Teaching Track:
Qualified candidates will be considered at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor. A commitment to teaching is necessary. Candidates for Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor rank must meet criteria for appointment at rank per the UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the CT track.
